#MicroblogMonday What's it worth to you?

The RE bills is not a game for kids J  See what I did there?  Yes, I got my first invoice.  It’s not much compared to what some of you have seen (a measley $500) but more than I have spent on doctor’s visits in the last 3 years combined. What’s crazy is it’s only the beginning.  Insert deep sigh here.  It is what it is.  I know payday and I both have this wild hope that I’m pregnant right now (despite the 1% chance it’s even possible) so that we won’t have to go forward with the operation to cut off our arm and leg so we can surreptitiously hand them to our RE.  Oh well, who needs a savings account or retirement plan anyway right?

Till next time

  1. I hope that once the decision is made and you are in the process you will find the worries disappear. Good luck!

  2. The bills are so painful. And they keep coming. Hope it's a quick stay at the clinic and the bills stay low.

  3. I used to try hard to think about the bills ( perhaps crassly, but I think pragmatically ) in this way: ( and I know it's painful although we had lots covered by insurance we had to fork out for donor eggs and sperm and deductibles etcetera. ) Most of us don't think twice about taking out a loan on a $20,000 car or a large mortgage - because it's just sthg ppl do, and a justifiable and quite common expense. It's a HUGE amount of money for an inanimate object. But that longed for baby is a very expensive ( in ART) lifelong delight ( still a gamble - which buying a large ticket item isn't). I also feel that debt is sthg that is transitory, but a baby ( assuming again that one gets "lucky") is forever ( usually).
Obviously it's best to pay off debts but with the window of time available it's sometimes just not possible. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck and I hope I haven't offended you with my crass analogy. And yes, insurance should pay for everything!
